she.codes by TEC

This program is currently offered in german

she.codes is a recognized university group of KIT and TUM with the vision to inspire young people and especially girls for computer science and technical topics and to be a close role model for them. The program allows girls to come in contact with coding and with role models, which are important in order to create orientation and representation. In the different courses offered, participants combine creativity and programming and write their first programs.

About the she.codes team

From the she.codes website: Our team consists of around 50 members studying at various universities, including the KIT and the TUM. Our study fields include business informatics, industrial engineering, computer science and mechanical engineering. We are all united by our interest in technology and programming.

Motivation

From the Karlsruhe Digital Blogbeintrag: “Since programming has so far been taught in very few schools, it is mainly girls and children whose families cannot afford the extracurricular courses, which usually have to be paid for, who come into contact with this topic much too late or not at all. This is also clearly shown later in the number of students and employees in the relevant courses and professions: women are still underrepresented today.”
